Responding to Lighthousekeeping by Jeanette Winterson.
"Lighthousekeepig is a sea story, a love story, a lost story, a life story, a bedtime story and my story...It is a story about telling stories. A story about what stories are, and how they affect us." Jeanette Winterson.
I count this book as one of my all-time favourites having read it a number of times. The language is a joy to experience. I often find myself pausing to re read sentences just for the sheer pleasure of their arrangement. It is a story full of mystery and enchantment. Attempts to define do not do it justice. It evades direct interpretation. This elusive, part glimpsed weaving of individuals stories is it's attraction. It allows plenty of space for the readers own imagination to interact with the text. This work arose from my wish to make a visual response to the book.
