I first read Philip Hoare's book Leviathan a few years ago. Having enjoyed it so much I decided it was time for a revisit. His fascination with whales and for Herman Melville's Moby Dick, forms the basis of his investigation of these ocean giants.
Ideas involving this subject matter have been gathering in my sketch books for awhile now. I am particularly fascinated by old whaling log books. These drawings are the start of 'figuring out' how I might explore this vast subject.

Have just found your blog. I make sculptural books and think your ideas and how you resolve them into book forms is really great. Saw you have not posted in 2017 hope you do soon
