 I first read Philip Hoare's book Leviathan a few years ago. Having enjoyed it so much I decided it was time for a revisit. His fascination with whales and for Herman Melville's Moby Dick, forms the basis of his investigation of these ocean giants. Ideas involving this subject matter have been gathering in my sketch books for awhile now. I am particularly fascinated by old whaling log books. These drawings are the start of 'figuring out' how I might explore this vast subject.  Sketchbook page  Page from whaling log book
